As part of its twentieth anniversary celebrations, the London InterCommunity Health Centre partnered with the London Public Library to bring best-selling author Lawrence Hill to the city for this special presentation. In many of his novels, including the critically acclaimed “Book of Negroes,” Hill explores the black experience and the themes of identity and belonging. These themes are often paralleled in the lives of the newcomer clients served by the Health Centre. The sold-out presentation raised awareness of the significant impact that social isolation has on the health and well-being of so many members of the London community.
