London InterCommunity Health Centre

This story-writing program, hosted Saturdays from 2-4pm at the London Central Public Library (Central Branch 3rd floor Friends of LPL Board Room), creates opportunities for individuals to meet like-minded people and learn about self-expression and creative writing.

Creative Writing ProgramIn early sessions of the creative writing group, the participants were given the task of developing a name for their new group, an activity that not only gave them creative ownership but also fostered a sense of belonging. One of the members, who sadly passed away, thought of “Grit Uplifted” because he felt it represented the raw experiences of life on the street that so many of them shared, but it also communicated a sense of hope and strength. The name Grit Uplifted remains a meaningful way to honour his memory, as he gave courage and comfort to those going through difficult times.
