Food Families is an evidence-based program in which a group of neighbourhood families come together on a regular basis to form a network that supports, encourages, and mentors one another using food – purchasing, growing, sharing, learning, and celebrating – as a galvanizing focus. This program is supported by the Child and Youth Network and more information can be found at: https://www.cynfoodfamilies.com and at: http://www.lfpress.com/2015/09/30/success-of-food-families-model-to-be-highlighted-at-launch-of-london-food-banks-thanksgiving-food-drive.
Our collaborative Food Families program will be open to all families (however that is defined by the individual) in the area and to our clients, regardless if they are from the Old East Village area. Child-minding will be available for those families with small children. Session topics will include healthy eating, couponing, meal planning, kitchen safety, knife skills, collective kitchen, food preserving, gardening and cooking with kids. Expert facilitators will be from the neighbourhood- folks who work and/or live here, such as Ian Kennard of Willie’s Café, Dave Glen from Glen Farms, and Heather from Naturally Vegan.
This program starts January 25th! Click here to learn more and register today!
