We are excited to share with you the Health Centre’s annual report! Annual Report 2019-2020
This year, we have taken a slightly different approach. Instead of listing program and service highlights, we have focused on milestones, initiatives, and accomplishments across the organization. We hope staff see themselves in many areas of work as we showcase interdisciplinary collaboration.
In addition, we have also created a video that summarizes the report. https://youtu.be/hDN1W6Re3m8

Across Canada, Community Health Centres (CHCs) have been on the frontlines of testing, care, outreach and social support throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. CHCs are placing special emphasis on the healthcare and social support needs of vulnerable community members, adapting services, outreach and programs to ensure that people already experiencing major barriers and health inequities are not excluded and left further behind.
They are on the frontlines addressing the primary impact of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as secondary impacts like social isolation, mental illness, food insecurity, increased domestic violence, and other impacts. CHCs are adapting to address the pandemic while providing as much continuity of care and support as possible to meet ongoing local needs.
As many of you know, April 19th – 25th is National Volunteer Week. Every year, the Health Centre plans a special recognition ceremony to thank all the volunteers for their hard work and contributions. However due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be hosting our usual volunteer appreciation event. Instead, we are sending each volunteer a special recognition gift.
This year, we had 113 volunteers who contributed 15,694 hours of volunteer service! Congratulations to several of our volunteers are celebrating their 5-year milestone anniversaries: Jean Bageire, Olabisi (Aisha) Gbagba, Dana Giboire, Kristy Jansen, Meg Pirie, Robert Rogers, Irene Snake and Rob Van Der Western.
We are rolling out the red carpet and applauding our volunteers! We truly appreciate everything our volunteers have to offer our clients and the community. The Health Centre is not the same without our volunteers. They are missed!

It’s a great honour to share that the Health Centre has been chosen as a finalist for the London Chamber of Commerce’s Business Achievement Awards in the category of Excellence in Human Resources! Thank you to Regional HIV/AIDS Connection, London CAReS, and Human Resources Professionals Association who supported our nominee status.
A heartfelt congratulations to St. Joseph’s Health Care, the other finalist in this category. With increasing pressures in the health care setting, employers are continuously striving to find new ways to make positive organizational changes that support their staff. It’s a process, but we are gaining ground, improving everyday.
We are proud to serve our community, our staff, and our volunteers in a healthy work environment that inspires innovative services and local community initiatives.
