Ensuring that everyone has access to the COVID-19 vaccine is a priority for the Health Centre. At the beginning of the year, we began with client engagement and education around the importance of vaccinations. This took many shapes including one-to-one provider consultations, community Q&A sessions, and conversations through street outreach. As seniors became eligible for the vaccine, we called all our clients at each phase of the rollout to support them with booking appointments, coordinating transportation, arranging interpreters, and reminding them of their appointment to ensure a smooth process.
Our teams across each site have developed vaccine rollout strategies for the various populations that we serve and have coordinated vaccination clinics. We are so grateful to have an amazing team who come together and make things happen. We know the marginalized populations that we serve often face obstacles when accessing mainstream services. Our dedicated team of health equity champions work hard to ensure that no one is left behind and that everyone has equal access to the health services they need.
